In the beginning we wanted to make a website similar to the the Latin Mass Directory. We saw that there was a need for something similar for the Gaelic Catholic community to make Gaelic Masses more accessible. While the creators of this site are Gaelic Catholics, the Gaelic people are a multi-faith people and we don’t intend to leave any Gaelic Christians behind in this endeavor.
In the words of the Divine “I give you a new commandment: Love eachother as I have loved you.”
And we take that commandment seriously.
GCD’s Patron Saint
After (not so) long consideration, we decided to make Saint Columba the patron saint of the Gaelic Christian Directory. While not all Gaelic Christians venerate Saints, those who do, all recognize St. Columba of Iona within their respective churches. We hope a Gaelic Saint, who shared prophecies of the Gael across the seas returning home, will unite Gaelic Christians and bring success to our faith based work in this world.
St. Columba pray for us.
St. Columba pray for the Gael.
FAQ
Because if we don’t, no body will.
For centuries Gaelic Christians have faced persecution of their language and culture at the hands of other Christians who deemed their form of worship “incorrect”. Now with modern technology we have the means to breath life back into our our indigenous Gaelic faiths, but that doesn’t come without community support.
